IT ALL STARTED WITH HISTORY

If there was a fire and you could only grab one photograph from your home, which one would you take? Someone asked me this recently and this exact photograph to the right is mine... my grandparents on their wedding day, full of hopes and dreams about the life they would create together.

Many decades after this photo was taken, when my grandpa was sick in the hospital, my grandma would heat up a pot of homemade soup every single day and take it to him, where they would eat together and visit over lunch, just like they would if they were at their kitchen table back home. He loved her cooking and she loved cooking for him. I remember visiting her once when I was ten and not understanding why she had to go see him every day. I selfishly just wanted to go shopping or help her bake her famous cookies. Couldn't she just go see him tomorrow? Years later, the reason why she did that clicked for me and it has stuck with me as one of the purest examples of true love that I think about often. The one person she loved most in this life was sick and she needed to see him everyday... needed to know she was still taking care of him and in that moment he was still hers.

MY GRANDPARENTS. DAY ONE. 1946.

Whenever I see this photo, I'm reminded of this story. Of the start of their legacy together. Of the fact that my grandpa told my grandma he was going to marry her on their first date and she laughed and called him crazy. I'm reminded of the love that they shared. Photographs tell so much more than the moment that they capture. They tell the story of someone's life. Of their history.

 LET ME TELL YOUR STORY...

THE TEST OF

I WANT YOUR WEDDING

PHOTOGRAPHS TO

The

EXPERIENCE

Life is mostly lived in the in-between moments. These are the moments you cherish and a wedding day is no different. The stolen glances, the way his hand lingers on your back just a second longer as he pulls away from a hug, how your veil moves in the wind as you walk, when your eyes well up with emotion as he whispers in your ear. These in-between moments, the ones that are authentic and real, are the ones that weave the story of your day together. These are the moments I'm shooting for. After all, it's often the picture snapped after "the picture", when you relax and natural movement occurs, that tells the story best.

If there's one thing I want my photographs to capture, it's that raw, real love that exists between the two of you, not some perfectly staged moment that looks the same for everyone. After all, many years from now when you and your loved ones are looking back at your wedding photographs, that is what you want to see:

FIERCELY ON THAT VERY FIRST DAY.

IF THIS IS THE EXPERIENCE YOU WANT ON YOUR WEDDING DAY,

The

PHOTOGRAPHS

I want your wedding photographs to stand the test of time. To never go out of style and still be as classic and elegant fifty years from now as they were on the day you said I do. To serve as an authentic representation of who you two really are. I'm not just documenting your legacy and love for the two of you, but for your granddaughter to cherish one day, so they can be a treasured heirloom to her, just as my grandmothers' wedding photographs are to me. It's about preserving your love and legacy for generations to come. Your wedding photographs are one of the few things that are worth that investment.

Over the past decade, I've honed my vision and the signature style of defining moments that my work is known for. This carefully curated vision, plus the instincts I've developed photographing 200+ weddings, allow me to consistently create compelling images centered around authentic "can't replicate it if I tried" moments that give my photographs their signature wow factor. My vision when preserving your love story on paper is what you're investing in when you work with me.

Black and white verse color? If you follow me on Instagram, you know that black and white photos make my soul happy. Black and white images convey emotion and feeling so well. They are a nod to an earlier era that evokes a classic and timeless feeling and they tell a story in a way that colors can't. However, colors, and the details and intricacies they tell, are equally important on a wedding day, which is why you get a thoughtfully curated mix of both. Your final gallery will be approximately 80% color and 20% black and white. This way you get the best of both worlds.

My team & I take great care in hand editing your images to deliver you a meticulously refined final gallery of images that I am 100% proud of. Your custom wedding gallery will be filled with around 1,000 beautiful images that will take you right back to your wedding day. You can also download the accompanying app onto your phone and have your wedding images in the palm of your hand at all times. If you're anything like my past brides, you're going to want to show off your gorgeous photographs to everyone!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

01. WHAT IS YOUR AVERAGE INVESTMENT?

Most of my couples choose to invest between $5600 -$6500 on their wedding photography collection.

02. WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU SHOOT WITH?

I exclusively shoot with pro-grade Nikon cameras & lenses & Profoto lighting. I use an average of 4 lenses to capture the wedding day and always have back-up cameras, lenses, lighting & memory cards at every wedding.

03. DO WE HAVE TO DO A FIRST LOOK?

Absolutely not! However, from experience I have found time & time again that doing a first look makes the day so much more enjoyable for my brides and grooms because it allows them ample time to spend with each other and with their guests without feeling rushed or sacrificing the amount of portraits they receive.

04. MY VENUE IS DARK. CAN YOU PROPERLY LIGHT IT?

100%!! I have extensive training in lighting & come to every wedding with the proper equipment & knowledge to light any situation! I also believe in the less is more approach & can handle every lighting scenario with a one flash setup to keep my footprint small inside your reception!

05. HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHS WILL I RECEIVE?

On average I deliver around 1,000 wedding photographs for an 8-10 hour day.

06. CAN WE HAVE ALL OF THE IMAGES YOU TAKE?

Rest assured, you get every single amazing image I take on your wedding day. I won't get rid of any good ones I know you'll absolutely love in order to hit a certain number of photos. If it's good, you'll get it! Discarded images are my light tests, unflattering faces, duplicates, motion blur and any weird angles.

07. DO YOU DELIVER MOSTLY BLACK & WHITE IMAGES?

The majority of your wedding photographs will be in color with only around 20% black & white!

08. HOW MUCH EDITING DO YOU DO ON OUR PHOTOS?

All of my photos are edited for exposure, white balance & tone, with straightening & cropping as needed. I strive to achieve my signature style of true to life color captured in a clean, crisp and timeless way in camera so minimal editing other than these are needed. I do remove blemishes & any small bruises or bug bites on portraits, so no need to worry if you have a break out on your wedding day! If you would like extensive editing done: changing body shape, swapping heads, hair, make-up or wardrobe fixes, removing objects from the background, etc., I outsource to a professional photo retoucher for $15 an image.

09. HOW DO I LOCK IN MY WEDDING DATE?

A signed wedding contract and $1500 retainer locks in your wedding date on my calendar. Due to the amount of inquiries I receive each year, I'm not able to hold wedding dates without these two things.

10. DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS?

Absolutely, there's no where I won't go to capture a wedding day! I've captured couples all over the

world, from the history and architecture of Paris, to the beaches of Mexico. Travel fees are listed in the Wedding Guide I send when you inquire & if your destination isn't listed, I'm happy to provide a custom quote!

11. ARE YOU FUN TO BE AROUND ON OUR WEDDING DAY?

Absolutely!! I'm an Enneagram 7, which according  to the Enneagram Institute, 7's "are enthusiastic about almost everything that catches their attention. They approach life with curiosity, optimism, and a sense of adventure, like kids in a candy store who look at the world in wide-eyed, rapt anticipation of all the good things they are about to experience. They are bold and vivacious, pursuing what they want in life with a cheerful determination." That describes me pretty much to a T and almost every single review my brides leave me mentions the joy & ease of working with me!

12. HOW LONG AFTER THE WEDDING DO WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?

Full wedding galleries are delivered an average of 4 weeks after your wedding day! Plus you receive

sneak peeks & a blog post with 100+ images before

then!

14. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS ON MY WEDDING DAY?

We roll with it & you will still get AMAZING photographs. I always have a few clear bubble umbrellas in my car for you to use. Some of my absolute all-time favorite wedding photographs have been taken in the rain! I think it adds magic to your photos and is there anything more romantic that kissing in the rain under a shared umbrella with your new husband?!

15. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR?

started Jennifer Boris Photography and photographed my first wedding in 2013. I've

photographed 200+ weddings all over the US & international destinations and have been running my business full-time for almost 4 years!

16. HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH A YEAR?

As one of the most sought after Detroit wedding photographers, I have the honor of joining between 45-50 amazing couples each year on their wedding day to capture their memories for them!

17. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET SICK & CANNOT PHOTOGRAPH MY WEDDING DAY?

Knock on wood, this hasn't happened yet & I hope it never will. However, in the event that it did, I do have procedures laid out where my second photographer would take over for me & I would try my best to find another second photographer to fill in for them from my large network of wedding professionals. If that's not satisfactory to you, you also have the option to get your investment back and hire another photographer on your own.

18. DO YOU OFFER VIDEOGRAPHY?

I'm a photography only studio, but I think videography is very important on a wedding day & I love recommending Blue Racer Productions, Xavier Nicole & Heart + Soul Films to my couples. All of

them produce amazing, high caliber work and are awesome people!

19. CAN I GIVE YOU A SHOT LIST OR MY PINTEREST BOARD?

The only list of photos I work off of on a wedding day is the family portraits list which is included in the Wedding Day Info Sheet I send you a month before your wedding. Trying to duplicate photos from other photographers or work off of a list not only pulls me out of capturing the moment and what is going on around us, but results in static, fake images instead of dynamic, authentic ones that capture who you & your husband truly are as a couple. Trust is the MOST paramount thing between a couple and their wedding photographer and trusting me to do the job you hired me to do will produce the absolute best final product and best wedding day experience. After photographing weddings for the last 7 years, I know exactly what I need to capture on your wedding day and how to capture it! If you like the photos you see on my website, you'll absolutely love your wedding photos.
